Ugly baby, wonderful head!
Albert Einstein is born 126 years ago in Ulm on 14 March 1879. At first, mother and grandmother are appalled by the baby. "Much too fat", says grandma and mother worries as she thinks Albert's head is strangely shaped. However, after a few weeks it is clear that Albert is a totally normal baby. He sleeps, drinks and soils his diapers - like all babies.

Around one year later, the family and "Albertle" move to Munich. He grows up there and does not have many friends. He prefers to stay home and do handicrafts while the other boys play outside. As a small child he starts to play the violin. It is not an easy instrument and so he must practise a lot. He also very interested in mathematics at elementary school and prefers to sit at the table calculating than go outside and play. But Albert Einstein is not a child prodigy.
