Confirmation of the Special Theory of Relativity
Letter from Alfred Bucherer to Einstein, 7 September 1908
In 1908, Alfred Bucherer succeeds in proving "beyond any doubt" the relativistic changes in the mass of electrons using a similar experimental apparatus to Kaufmann's. In further letters to Einstein he describes his work in detail and claims to have "achieved substantially greater precision in all measurements than Kaufmann." Bucherer simultaneously refutes his own electron theory with his measurements.
