Radiant Minerals
Experimental demonstration

Henri Becquerel discovers in 1896 that uranium ore emits a previously unknown kind of radiation. In 1898, the Curies isolate a new element, radium, from uranium ore. The radium emits strong radiation. Thirty years later, Hans Geiger and Walther Müller invent a detector that allows particles of radioactive radiation to be heard and counted.
