Joseph Saxton's Magnetoelectric Machine

The electrical current is generated by a pair of coils rotating in front of a fixed horseshoe magnet.

An instrument of this type is the predecessor to the dynamo and was first build in 1833 by the American engineer Joseph Saxton.
