Atwood’s Free-fall Machine

With Atwood’s Machine, Newton’s law of accelerated motion can be proved with a high degree of accuracy. No physicist in the 19th century seriously doubts the truth of this law. Thus, this machine was more likely to be used for demonstrations in physics lectures than for research.
