Geminga as a Magnet

Geminga is the super-dense remnant of a supernova explosion.

The animation shows the round path drawn by charged particles as they spin around the star. In light blue, the direction of Geminga rotational axis. The zoom out shows the size of Geminga magnetic field with respect to the star size.Last frames of the animation show Geminga magnetic poles, two hot spots with a temperature of a two-million degree, only 60 meters in radius. These hot spots are the smallest astronomical feature ever detected ouside the Solar System.
