Einstein Loses His Fortune
Letter from the Gestapo to the Prussian Minister of Finance about Confiscated Bonds and Foreign Exchange, reproduction

The National Socialists not only rob the persecuted scientists of opportunities to work, but also systematically plunder their property. Many are forced to flee abroad almost penniless.

Einstein does not mourn their loss, writing to an acquaintance, “Let the Germans feed on my bit of money.”
