In a way, this work rounds off Einstein's time in Berlin – it is the last article that the Academy member publishes in his employer's house journal; Einstein publishes the next two parts of this work in exile. Therein Einstein attempts to give the Dirac spinor a more clear-cut form – evidence that Einstein is still following the latest developments in quantum mechanics.
