Planck on Mach's Criticism of Newton's Principle of Inertia

Where Mach tries to proceed independently on the basis of his epistemology, he often errs. This includes Mach’s persistently advocated, but physically useless idea that the relativity of all translational motions corresponds to a relativity of all rotational motions so that, for example, in principle it cannot be excluded that the starry sky is rotating around a stationary earth.
