Berlin, 10 January 1918

Although Einstein correctly calculates the rotation of the perhelion of Mercury, no astronomer is prepared to test the effects Einstein has predicted. In this letter to Hugo Kruess, Geheimer Regierungsrat in the Prussian Ministry of Culture, Einstein complains about this fact.
