Hilbert is one of the most important mathematicians of the 20th century. In 1895, he becomes professor of mathematics at the University of Goettingen. He stimulates many fields of mathematics, among others the theory of invariants, number theory, geometry, theory of integrational equations, logic, and basic questions of mathematics.
