Propaganda Postcards from World War I
World War I heats up nationalist sentiment all over Europe. The individual governments rely systematically on the effects of aggressive propaganda. Not only cultural arrogance and nationalist pathos abound, but also clearly racist opinions. After the end of the war the wounds can hardly be healed. National clichés, suspicion and prejudice long determine the public consciousness in the antagonistic countries. In Germany a mentality of bitter resentment is combined with the wish for revenge.
