Postcard from Einstein to his Mother
Berlin, 11 November 1918

Einstein rejoices about the political developments at the time of the revolution.

Dear Mother,

Don't worry. All has been going smoothly, impressively even, up to now. The current leadership really seems to be equal to the task. I am very pleased with the matter's development. Now I'm beginning to feel really comfortable here. The bankruptcy has done wonders.

All of us are well. We are healthy, and Haberland St. is peering half curiously, half fearfully into the world. I'll be writing you more often now so that you don't worry. Among the academicians, I am some kind of high-placed Red (Obersozi).
