Satellite WMAP started collecting data in 2002 abour the exact distribution of fluctuations in the Microwave Background. The map you can see on the wall, and the animated version you can see in the following slide, show the latest WMAP results.

The average temperature of the Cosmic Background Radiation is 2,725 Kelvin degrees. The overlaying fluctuations are very small: red regions are only 0.0002 degrees warmer than blue regions.
