X-Ray Deflection at a Crystal Lattice
Einstein to Max von Laue, 10 June 1912, reproduction

Einstein is far from regarding light as a pure current of particles. He is thus very enthusiastic about Max von Laue’s experiments to deflect X-ray light in crystal lattices – clear evidence of its wave character: Your experiment is one of the most beautiful experiments physics has ever seen. Einstein longs for a closed theory, which includes both the particle and the wave character of light.
