Attempts to Save the Republic
Poster: Appeal to Form a Unified Anti-Fascist Front, July 1932
Einstein, together with other intellectuals and artists, champions the formation of a unified anti-fascist front. Despite this appeal, the SPD and KPD do not come together, which decisively destabilizes the republic. In 1930 the number of seats in the Reichstag held by the National Socialists had already escalated. The division of the left, which had burdened the republic from the outset, has fatal consequences.
