Clock synchronization

It is crucial for the accuracy of measurement that receiver and satellite clocks tick exactly at the same pace. The longer the synchronization lasts the smaller is the clock error.

Almost 400 years ago Christiaan Huygens discovered that wall clocks which hang side by side for days start running in synchronous rhythm. In satellite navigation the synchronization takes typically 30 seconds, for highest demands even more than a week.
