Lasers in industry

In electrotechnical and electronic industries, lasers prevail more and more. Certain products - filigree grids for broadcasting tubes for example - could even not be produced without the laser.

At the Siemens AG for instance, laserlight is used from the near ultraviolet to the far infrared (wavelengths from about 250 nanometres to 10 micrometres), the laser power ranges from 1 Watt to 3 Kilowatts.

Almost half of the laser applications there is allotted to marking of objects, a scant 30 per cent to joining of materials, 15 per cent to separating and 10 per cent to trimming procedures.
