Letter from Niels Bohr to Einstein, Copenhagen, 13 April 1927
The uncertainty principle states that there are properties of particles that are complementary to each other (for example, the position and velocity of a particle) that both can not be determined with accuracy. The more exact the value of one property is, the less exact the value of the other property.

In a letter to Einstein, Bohr argues: Therefore it becomes possible in quantum mechanics to use pairs of terms such as wave and particle simultaneously without contradiction, even though these pairs seem contradictory in daily usage.
