In this letter, Einstein uses sharp words to express his disquiet about the acausality that the quantum theory is showing in more and more places:

In my view the idea that an … electron can, of its own free will, choose the moment and direction in which it will leap away is unbearable. If that is the case, I'd rather be a cobbler – or even work in a casino – than be a physicist.
