Measurement

Measurement is a key concept in quantum mechanics. One does not need a device to make a measurement. Simply looking is a measurement process.

For the observation of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen experiment, the measurement is made by photons passing through a polarisation filter and then being registered by a detector.

Bohr assumed that one can make no assertions about physical properties if they were not measured. Einstein insisted that properties also exist independent of measurements.
